How to get Here GPS has gotten much better over the years, but there are still a lot of logging roads shown as real roads. Know where you are going and get there safe & quick.

Directions From Blacksburg:
Take 460 West 2 miles past Pembroke Go right on 635 – Big Stony Creek Rd. (If you cross the New River you’ve gone too far. It’s last right before river.) You stay on Stony Creek Rd for about 24 miles to Waiteville At about 5.5 miles you take a very hard left to stay on 635. If you go straight you’ll be on Oleans Rd. (you can’t go very far). FYI: Stony Creek turns into Waiteville Rd. When you cross into W VA You’ll pass through Waiteville and go just under a mile and make a left onto CR 15 which may be labeled – Limestone Rd., Zenith Rd. or Gap Mills Rd. 64 East to Charleston W VA, join I-77 South 64 East/77 South to Beckley W VA Stay on I-77 South 77 South to Princeton W VA Take 460 East towards Blacksburg & Roanoke 460 to Pearisburg VA. Pearisburg is last place for gas & groceries. Just past Pearisburg you’ll cross New River. Take 1st left which is 635 – Big Stony Creek Rd. From East & North: I-81 South to I-64 West. Take exit 10 to 159; turn left at bottom of ramp onto 159. If you want to shop (get gas) get off at exit 14. Kroger, subway, pizza turn left on Craig/Durant, go right to Super Wal-Mart.
11 to 12 miles you’ll come to a Y intersection with 311. Bear left onto South 311 towards Salem. Go 14/15 miles on 311 till you come to Paint Bank. There is a store/gas station (Texaco)/ restaurant there, good place to get ice. (Hanging Bridge Restaurant also) Turn right on 600 besides store.
Go about 10.5 miles to Limestone Hill Rd.. and turn right. (If you get to Waiteville you went too far) Farm is up ½ mile on left. OR: Take 311 to sweet springs where the old brick buildings are and bear to the right (at the Y) on Rt. 3 towards Union. Turn left on to the Backway just after the Cheese & More Store. Turn left on Limestone Hill or Zenith Rd. to fire tower. Sign says wildlife viewing area and Backway.
